WELCOME

Welcome to DIY Rocketry! We’re a community of rocketry enthusiasts who enjoy designing, building and launching rockets of all sizes, from low-power to high-power, even experimental rockets. You’re welcome to post your projects, informative articles, and anything else that may be of interest to the rocketry community.

SOME BACKGROUND

DIYRocketry.com, or DIYR, was developed out of a desire to concentrate information from around the rocketry community, especially with regards to the D.I.Y. (Do-It-Yourself) aspects of things. While there are many invaluable personal websites out there, they are all independent and sometimes hard to find.  Forums can offer a great source of information, but too many quality articles get lost in the mountains of other posts and become difficult to locate again. This site aims to be different. There wont be a single website author, but rather, every member of this site will be able to author, publish and edit their own content which will then be featured on this site. Members will also be able to maintain personal pages documenting any of their personal projects/builds. These can be helpful for not only showing-off your latest engineering marvel to others, it can also serve as a way of documenting your build for future reference.

MEMBER BENEFITS

There are numerous benefits to being a DIYR member.

  • It’s free! No fees, no site-run ads.
  • You’ll have the ability to write your own articles on any rocketry related topic you’d like, the ability to edit at anytime, and human-readable links to your published content.
  • Not only is self-promotion not prohibited, it’s encouraged! If you have your own business or website and you write an article, you are more than welcome to also place a link or reasonable banner within your article. We’re a small community, lets support each other!
  • Exposure – your content will likely see a greater exposure to viewers on this collective site than on, say, an individual blog site.
  • Document your own projects – whether you’re building a rocket for your Level 2 cert, or constructing a launch tower – we’d all love to read about it!

WEBSITE FEATURES – OVERVIEW

As you are greeted by the “Home” page, you’ll notice the layout is split into several sections. The first section is “Resources“. These are the primary navigation links for the site. Each link will take you to either a specified page or listing of articles. For example, “Electronics” will lead you to a section of articles related to electronics. These are further organized into several sub-categories as well, such as launch-controllers and altimeters.

Below “Resources” is a section titled “Blog Posts“. These posts typically relate to current events, such as a recent club launch, a new product, other types of events or anything else rocketry related. These posts can be contributed by any member anytime. If you have something to show or tell others about, this is a great place to do it!

Over to the right-column, the first section will typically be a “Video of the Day” type feature, although this may change. Below that is “Recent Articles“, which is a list of the most recently published articles.

As suggestions are made, the contents and layout may change over time. If you’d like to make a suggestion, we’d love to hear it! Just use the “Contact” form.
